Summary

I am an assistant professor at the Virginia Tech Aerospace and Ocean Engineering Department. I completed my PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) under Brandon Lucia. Before that, I worked as a research engineer at the Autonomy and Navigation Technology (ANT) Center in the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). During that time, I completed my MS in computer engineering. As an undergraduate, I studied physics, mathematics, and computer science.

Research Areas

I work on computational nanosatellites, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) on embedded, edge devices. I am interested in smart energy management for embedded, computational systems; intelligent wireless systems for satellites; and computer vision applications in space. I study computational nanosatellites though the lens of cyber-physical systems (CPS).

Members of the Starbelt research group evaluate new computational space system designs and mission concepts using both simulation and real-world deployments. We build real nanosatellites to launch into low-Earth orbit.
